Search Console is missing days of data

Search Console has no data for some days that should have it.

Search Console has no data for some recent days, although it reported on the days before and after. Search clicks and impressions for any period that includes them are understated.

What it means

A website with steady search traffic should have Search Console figures for every day. A day with nothing at all between reported days usually means Google hadn’t supplied it yet or a sync missed it, rather than nobody seeing the website in search.

What triggers it

It looks at Search Console’s daily data over the last four weeks. On a website with a median of 50 or more impressions a day, it raises this Medium issue for any day with no data between the first and last days that have it, and lists up to five of the dates. The latest days, which Search Console always reports late, don’t count.

Common causes

  • A sync failed or was interrupted on those days, for example while the Google connection was broken.
  • Google had a reporting delay or outage and filled the days in later.
  • The Search Console property was changed, or lost and regained verification.

How to fix it

  1. Click “↻ Sync now” on the website. Each sync re-reads the last 10 days, which fills most recent gaps.
  2. Check in Search Console’s Performance report whether it has data for those dates, and whether the connected account can still open the property.
  3. If the days stay empty, add a timeline note so reports explain the gap. See Timeline notes.

When it clears

As soon as a sync fills the missing days, or when they’re more than four weeks old and drop out of the check. It isn’t raised when search figures are hidden under Workspace basics → What to show.
