Two-factor authentication

Set it up, keep your recovery codes safe and switch to a new phone.

Your SaaSMaestro account can see analytics for many websites, so we strongly recommend two-factor authentication: after your password, you enter a 6-digit code from an app on your phone.

Is it required?

No, it’s optional but recommended. Until it’s on, a banner at the top of the page reminds you; the ✕ hides it for two weeks, then it comes back.

Setting it up

  1. Install an authenticator app, such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, 1Password or Authy. Any app that supports time-based codes works.
  2. Go to Profile → Two-factor authentication and enter your password if asked.
  3. Scan the QR code with the app, or type in the key shown below it.
  4. Enter the 6-digit code from the app and click “Turn on two-factor”.
  5. Save your recovery codes.

Recovery codes

You get 8 recovery codes. Each one can be used once instead of a 6-digit code, if you don’t have your phone. They’re shown only once, so copy or download them and keep them somewhere safe, such as a password manager.

When you sign in with a recovery code, SaaSMaestro tells you how many are left. If you’re down to two or fewer, generate a new set on the two-factor page; this cancels the old ones.

Switching to a new phone or app

Click “Switch to a new phone or app” and scan the new QR code. Your old app keeps working until the new one is confirmed, so you can’t lock yourself out halfway. “Cancel and keep my current app” stops the switch.

Two-factor authentication can’t be turned off, only moved to a new app.

Signing in

After your password, enter the current code from your app within 10 minutes. If a code is rejected, check that your phone’s clock is set automatically; codes depend on the time.

Lost your phone and recovery codes?

Contact us from the email address on your account. Once we’ve confirmed it’s you, we’ll reset two-factor authentication so you can sign in with just your password and set it up again.

Is two-factor authentication required?

No, but we strongly recommend it, and a reminder shows every two weeks until it’s on. Use any authenticator app, such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, 1Password or Authy.

I lost my phone. How do I sign in?

Use one of your eight recovery codes instead of the 6-digit code. If you have lost those too, contact us and we will reset two-factor authentication so you can set it up again.
