Tip: catch up on click-through rate

The search click-through rate is under half that of your other websites.

People who see the website in Google click on it at under half the rate that is typical of your other websites. Its search results may not be standing out.

What it suggests

The website is being shown in search, but its listings win fewer clicks than your other websites’ do. Titles and descriptions are the usual cause; lower average positions or many searches where it barely appears can also pull the rate down.

When it’s suggested

SaaSMaestro compares Search Console click-through rates over your default comparison period (28 days by default), between websites with at least 1,000 impressions. The tip appears when at least 3 other websites qualify and this website’s rate is under half their median.

It names the website with the best click-through rate and is an Info tip. It isn’t raised while the website has a GA4 tracking problem.

What to do

  1. Compare this website’s listings in Google with the named website’s: how clear, specific and appealing are the titles and descriptions?
  2. Rewrite titles and meta descriptions for the pages with the most impressions first, matching the words people search for.
  3. Check the average position too: if the website mostly sits low on page one or beyond, improving rankings will lift the rate more than rewording.

Searches that get far fewer clicks than their position usually earns are listed in Tip: rewrite titles and descriptions.

When it goes away

SaaSMaestro rechecks its tips every day against the latest data. Once the rule no longer applies for 7 days, the tip drops off the board.

If you tick it off or dismiss it, it stays off the board unless the situation clears for at least 7 days and then returns, when it comes back as “Back again”.
