The website recorded noticeably fewer conversions (GA4 key events) than in the comparison period. That usually means lost leads or sales, so it’s worth finding out why.
What it means
Conversions fall either because fewer people visit or because fewer of them convert. The issue’s details say which: if visitor numbers held up, the conversion rate itself fell and the cause is likely on the website.
What triggers it
SaaSMaestro compares GA4 key events for the current period (the workspace’s comparison period, 28 days by default) with the period before, or with the same days last year if that’s your comparison setting. It’s raised when conversions fell by at least your conversions alert threshold (25% by default) from at least 10. It’s High severity.
If conversions fell to almost nothing while visitors stayed normal, you get a different issue instead, because that’s usually broken tracking. See Conversions stopped recording.
Conversion checks only run while conversions are switched on under Workspace basics → What to show. Like the other checks on Google data, they’re paused while the Google connection is broken or stale, or while GA4 tracking looks broken.
Common causes
- A broken or changed form, checkout, booking tool or payment step.
- Fewer visitors, or visitors from a less interested source, for example after a campaign ended.
- A change to prices, offers, stock or page design.
- A key event renamed or unmarked in GA4, or a tag or consent change that stops it firing on some pages.
How to fix it
- Go through the conversion yourself on mobile and desktop, from landing page to thank-you page, and confirm it completes.
- While you test, check in GA4 DebugView that the key event still fires.
- Compare conversions by channel and landing page with the period before to see where they were lost, and review any changes made in the period.
When it clears
SaaSMaestro re-checks every time it analyses the workspace, using data synced from Google every six hours, and the issue clears as soon as the problem is no longer found.
Because it compares two periods, it can also clear once the numbers settle at a lower level, since the period before then looks the same. Check the trend chart before treating that as a recovery.
An action that stays clear for 7 days drops off the plan. If you marked it done but the problem is still found 14 days later, it returns as “Fix didn’t work”. See Using the action plan.
