Website was down in the last 7 days

The website went down at least once this week, even if it is up now.

Your website went down at least once in the past week, even though it’s answering now. Repeated outages lose visitors and sales, and often mean the hosting is struggling.

What it means

Each outage is a spell when the home page failed two uptime checks in a row, timed from when it went down until it answered again. The issue gives the number of outages, their total length in minutes and when the latest one was.

What triggers it

Uptime monitoring checks the home page every 15 minutes. Any outage that started in the last 7 days and has since ended raises this Medium issue. While the website is actually down, you see Website is down instead.

Common causes

  • Hosting that runs out of memory, CPU or connections at busy times.
  • Backups, scheduled jobs or bursts of bot traffic overloading the server.
  • Maintenance, restarts or network faults at the host.

How to fix it

  1. Note the outage times from the issue and ask your host what happened then.
  2. Check whether they line up with backups, scheduled jobs, deploys or traffic peaks.
  3. If the server keeps running out of capacity, add caching or a CDN, or move to a larger plan.

When it clears

It clears by itself 7 days after the latest outage started, as long as there hasn’t been another one since.
