The home page carries a GA4 tag, but not one belonging to the GA4 property this website is linked to in SaaSMaestro. Visits may be going to another property, so the figures you see here could be incomplete or wrong.
What it means
Every GA4 web data stream has a measurement ID starting with G-, and the tag on a website sends visits to whichever property owns its ID. A mismatch means either the website measures into a different property, or SaaSMaestro is linked to the wrong one.
What triggers it
Once a day, as part of Uptime monitoring, SaaSMaestro fetches the home page’s HTML and compares the GA4 IDs in it with those of the linked property’s web data streams, read from GA4. If IDs are found but none is the property’s, this High issue is raised, naming both. It shows in the app and isn’t emailed.
If the property’s own ID is on the page, the tag counts as found even when other GA4 IDs are there too. Tags added after the page loads, by Tag Manager or a consent tool, aren’t seen.
Common causes
- The website was linked to the wrong property in SaaSMaestro, such as an old or test property.
- A new GA4 property was created, but the website still carries the old tag.
- A theme, plugin or template copied from another website brought its tag along, or the ID was mistyped.
How to fix it
- In GA4, go to Admin → Data streams and find which property the ID on the page belongs to.
- If the website should report to that property, open the website in SaaSMaestro, click “Edit” and change its GA4 source. Its history is imported again from that property.
- Otherwise, replace the ID in the website’s tag, plugin or Tag Manager setup with the linked property’s ID, then check GA4’s Realtime report.
When it clears
The issue disappears after the next daily check that finds the property’s own ID on the home page. If no tag is found at all, see No Google tag found.
If you mark the action done and the problem is still found 14 days later, it comes back as “Fix didn’t work”. See Using the action plan.
