Connecting Google accounts

Connect one or more Google accounts and manage what each one can see.

A Google account connection lets SaaSMaestro read the GA4 properties and Search Console sites that account can see. Each workspace has its own connections, and you can add as many as you need.

Connect an account

  1. Go to Settings, open your workspace’s tab and choose Data connections.
  2. Click “+ Connect Google account”. Enter your password if asked.
  3. Choose the Google account and approve read-only access to Analytics and Search Console.
  4. You’re returned to SaaSMaestro with a message saying how many GA4 properties and Search Console sites were found.

Owners, admins and members can connect accounts. Viewers can’t.

Recommended: connect a dedicated Google account that has Viewer access in GA4 and Restricted access in Search Console, rather than a personal or admin account. Then nobody’s personal access is tied to the workspace.

What access is requested

SaaSMaestro asks for the Google account’s name and email address, plus two read-only permissions: one for Google Analytics and one for Search Console. It can’t change properties, tags, users or settings.

Using several Google accounts

Connect each account in turn. The import list combines properties from all of them, and on a website’s Edit page the data source dropdowns are grouped by account, so a website can take GA4 from one account and Search Console from another. Reconnecting an account that’s already connected just updates it.

Managing a connection

Each connected account shows its status and these controls:

ControlWhat it does
Show propertiesLists every GA4 property and Search Console site the account can see, marking those already in the workspace.
Refresh listRe-reads the account’s properties, for example after you’ve been given access to a new website.
ReconnectAppears when access has been revoked or has expired. Sign in again to restore it.
DisconnectRevokes and removes the connection. Owners and admins only.

Statuses: “Healthy” means it’s working, “Access revoked” means Google no longer accepts it (reconnect to fix), and “Error” means the last request failed.

Disconnecting

Disconnecting revokes SaaSMaestro’s access at Google and deletes the stored token. Websites that used the account keep all their history but stop updating, and show “Account disconnected” in the data freshness table until you link them to another account.

You can also remove access from Google’s side at any time, at myaccount.google.com under Security → Third-party apps & services.

Bing Webmaster Tools

Bing isn’t a Google account, but it is connected on the same Data connections tab. In Bing Webmaster Tools, open Settings → API access, generate an API key and paste it into the Bing Webmaster Tools card. SaaSMaestro links each website to the Bing site on the same domain (you can change it on the website’s Edit page) and imports about six months of daily Bing clicks and impressions, then keeps them up to date. They appear in a Bing search section on each website’s page.

Related questions

What access does SaaSMaestro ask Google for?

Read-only access to Google Analytics and Search Console. SaaSMaestro never changes your properties, tags or settings. OAuth tokens are stored encrypted.

Can I connect more than one Google account?

Yes, as many as you like per workspace. The import list combines properties from all of them, and each website can take its GA4 property from one account and its Search Console data from another.

What happens if I disconnect a Google account?

Its token is revoked at Google and removed. Websites that used it keep all their history but stop updating until you link them to another account or reconnect.
